Email Address Verification Requirements

To comply with the European Union's NIS2 Directive, Internet.bs requires verification of the registrant email address associated with domain registrations.

This requirement helps ensure the accuracy of domain registration data and supports regulatory obligations regarding domain ownership records.

Effective Date

The email verification requirement applies to registrations and ownership changes initiated on or after 25 November 2025.

Domains registered before this date are not impacted unless registrant contact information is modified.

Scope

Email verification is required for:

  • New domain registrations
  • Domain transfers
  • Registrant changes
  • Updates to registrant email addresses

The requirement applies across all supported TLDs except where registry-specific fulfilment processes apply.

Verification Process

When a qualifying registration or contact change occurs:

  1. A verification email is automatically sent to the registrant email address.
  2. The recipient must click the verification link contained in the email.
  3. Verification status is updated immediately upon successful confirmation.

Verification Deadline

Verification must be completed within 15 days of the email being issued.

Consequences of Non-Verification

Failure to verify the registrant email address within the required 15-day period may result in temporary suspension of the domain until the verification requirement has been fulfilled.

The domain registration itself remains active and is not deleted.

Domain Reactivation

If a domain has been suspended due to an unverified email address, verification can still be completed using the original verification email.

Once the verification requirement has been satisfied, the domain can be reactivated.

If the verification link is unavailable or no longer working, please contact Internet.bs Support for assistance.

Missing Verification Email

If you have not received the verification email:

  1. Check your spam or junk folders.
  2. Search your mailbox for verification-related messages.
  3. Ensure that emails from Internet.bs are not being blocked or filtered.
  4. Contact Support to request that the verification email be resent.
